Day 1 – Janya Ceremony
This wedding was held recently at EQ Kuala Lumpur. The wedding is celebrated over 4 separate days and as such we would be splitting the post to highlight the different events that happened during the entire wedding. Both Naveen & Nithya decided to have their destination wedding at EQ Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as it was the most central location where both families and friends could fly in have a celebration together.
Day 1 of the wedding was the Janya Ceremony for the groom in the morning. Janya refers to the scared thread ceremony in the Hindu culture, also known as the coming of age ceremony. It is a very significant occasion in the life of a Hindu. The thread ceremony starts with the worship all the Gods and Goddesses. Once the Janya ceremony is performed on the groom, he can then marry.
Pre-wedding portraits
We also planned a pre-wedding portrait session for the couple in the evening, just to capture some moments for the couple alone as we knew it would be a tight schedule for the next couple of days with all the other ceremonies. We did the portrait session at EQ Kuala Lumpur itself, and as the hotel was newly renovated, the rooftop access at that time was just completed. We were privilege enough to be the first to have done a portrait session there and it was absolutely beautiful. We had such a great time and captured some really amazing portraits with the Kuala Lumpur skyline as the back.
Mehndi & Henna preparation
Later in the evening, the bride and some of the ladies had their Henna \ Mehndi painted at the hotel suite. This amazing art work is painted on the hands and feet of the bride. The intricate details of the henna designs are really amazing. Nithya’s design had so many elements of the wedding day. If you look closely, you could find Naveen’s name hidden in the art work. Try to spot it in the next few post that would be coming up. Meanwhile here are some of the captures for day 1 of the wedding…
