As their Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Kuala Lumpur journey continued, they delved into the heart of Malaysia’s capital city, where history and modernity intertwine seamlessly. This is a series captured in Bali, a pre wedding photoshoot that we did for Marcus & Jean. To be honest this photoshoot session was quite a random one as we have intended to go Bali for a holiday on our own. Since we are going to be there, we actually posted up on our instagram story that we would be there and just in case if anyone wants we could have a portrait session done for them here in Bali. And just like that Marcus & Jean contacted us and the Bali pre wedding photoshoot happened!

As we were planning on the locations in Bali, we decided to do something quite special which was to catch the sun rise from the top of Mount Batur. Now as amazing as it sounds there were some sacrifices as we had to depart very early in the morning. We left our hotels at 3am! Yes it was super early, as the travel distance to Mount Batur takes about 2-2.5 hours. Luckily we did not have to do any hiking as we could drive all the way up to our shoot location. The journey there was interesting as well, we had to battle through the morning market farmers, go through some pitch dark terrains and at one point we even got lost a little.

When we finally arrived at Mount Batur shoot location, it was still very dark. And honestly we did not expect it to be that cold! It was about 5 degrees celsius and really it was cold as we did not anticipate it being that cold. But its okay, we still proceeded and the view as the sun rises was totally worth all the effort and sacrifice!

As soon as the sun rises the warmth of the sun immediately can be felt. It was such an amazing view and a spectacular experience for all of us. In the photos you could also see Mount Agung in the background actively erupting with clouds of smoke coming out from the volcano.

As we wrapped up the shoot in Mount Batur, we proceeded to the Tegenungan waterfall. Love the waterfall and it was quite high and slippery. To be honest we got to give props to those people that are so brave to sit on the edge of the rocks just for the an instagram photo.After Tegenungan waterfall we went back to our Villa in Canggu, rested. Before capturing more portraits in the beach just to catch the sun set which is really pretty and beautiful.

All in all, Bali is simply beautiful. We cannot stress it enough and we simply love this place. Can’t wait for our next trip! Write to us if you are keen to go!

Darren & Ju Yinn wanted to have their pre-wedding photos taken with a mix of both having beautiful greenery and a bit a sub-urban modern twist.  We immediately suggested Kanching falls, for the pre-wedding shoot location.  We heard about this place some time back but never had the opportunity to check it out.

Kanching Rainforest Waterfall, also known as Kanching Recreational Forest, is set in a forest reserve of nearly 500 hectares in the Rawang district just north of Kuala Lumpur. Its close proximity to the city makes this forest park a very popular spot for picnics, camping, swimming and jungle walking especially at weekends.The area of the waterfall is very nicely shaded, and you don’t get too much heat from the direct sun which is a good thing. In fact it was somewhat cooling and the water was icy cold which helps cool down especially in our hot climate in Malaysia.

For all our pre-wedding shoots, we like to keep things natural with the emphasis on being comfortable and enjoying each others company. We love exploring new places and trying out new locations that we have never been to. Sometimes its nice just to wander and feel the new environment and just enjoy the moment.

Our next shoot location was actually a old apartment flat located in Kuala Lumpur. Ever since we stumbled upon this place, we always thought that it would be a nice place to capture some nice photos in this area. Something about old flats in Kuala Lumpur, the design and the symmetry makes it interesting. Also it has this old and dated look that we love. We are glad that both Darren & Juyinn went with the idea although they were completely clueless when we tried to describe how the place looked like.

What is it like to have a pre-wedding photoshoot in Petaling Street ? Well look no further but before that…

We’ve been promoting a lot of our wedding photography work in this blog recently but not as much chance to write about our pre-wedding photos that we have done. Blogging takes a bit more time and we do update more frequently on our instagram account. But, we have to change… we must update our blog more regularly now, no excuses! =)

Here is something that we have done in the city that we live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It always excites us whenever we hear about Pre-wedding photography in the streets of Kuala Lumpur. It is the feeling of familiarity, yet something so unfamiliar and special at the same time. Sometimes we feel our local scenery is not nice, or not as beautiful as other cities in the world.  Just because we live here and we take for granted the actual beauty that is in the city. Also we have been to petaling street many times before for photowalks and just exploring every nook and corner of that place. We always wanted to do a pre-wedding photoshoot in Petaling Street but never really had the chance to do one, until now!

Here are some pre-wedding photoshoot taken in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur. Petaling Street is a very popular tourist spot, and I guess as locals we do try to avoid touristy places. But every now and then, you should try to explore these places. You never know that you might  be surprise to discover something new! We love how this place holds up to its heritage where the designs of the building structure remains to showcase its old heritage charms. Some of the businesses here have repurpose the old buildings, running hip hidden bars and cafes inside while maintaining the old building structure. We love the vibes of this place, and hope to be able to shoot another series here soon.

The session we had with Fai & Lily started in Petaling Street. We ended the session on a beach side, near Tanjung Sepat which is around 45mins away from Kuala Lumpur. Just absolutely love the series here, hope that you would enjoy it too…

Tokyo is probably one of the best location to photograph a couple pre wedding portrait session in. We have been to Tokyo for a couple of times and we just love it every time we are here. The city is so vibrant and full of life! You can get everything from the busyness of the city centre to a tranquil spot in a garden somewhere in the city itself. From the mix or urban to beautiful Japanese gardens, Tokyo is packed with many ‘Instagramable’ locations. Speaking of packed, Tokyo is also packed with people! One thing that is challenging is to photograph the couple without having people in the background. I guess it takes a bit of patience and just at the right timing it is possible to do so! It is really something we can be proud of because the areas that we photograph these portrait sessions was in public places. Since it is Sakura season, these places were also packed with people! We manage to capture some frames just as though they had the entire garden to themselves.

Kaz is Japanese while Samantha is Malaysian, it was really wonderful on how both of them met and decided to have their portraits taken in Tokyo. Since Kaz is Japanese and works in Tokyo, we pretty much had a local guide with us for this trip!

These series of photos was taken during the Sakura season and it was our first time encountering the sakura! If you are planning for a pre-wedding during sakura season, I think the best time would be early April for Tokyo. Although you will start to see the Sakura starting to bloom near end of March. As a guide it is always good to check the Sakura blossom forecast season from this website.
