Day 2 – Nav Ghari & Ghari Pooja
For day 2 celebration of the wedding in EQ Kuala Lumpur, the morning session was filled with traditional prayer ceremonies for both the bride and the groom. As we run through the photos to do this blog post, we realised that the ceremonies are so detailed in nature and we really needed to know what is going on in order to capture all that is important. We are glad that we could familiarised ourselves with all that is happening during that day. This post is surely going to be a long one, as we have captured so much during the day.
These ceremonies, the Nav Ghari & Ghari Pooja was held in separate rooms in EQ Kuala Lumpur. Just to help you understand the various wedding ceremonies involved in this wedding, the Puja or pooja is a worship ritual performed in the morning by Hindus to offer devotional homage and prayer to one or more deities, to host and honour a guest, or to spiritually celebrate an event. Puja or Pooja is held to mark a few lifetime events such as birth of a baby, a wedding, or to begin a new venture.
At the Ghari Puja ceremony, the Pooja is performed simultaneously at the both the groom’s and bride’s place. As for this wedding in EQ Kuala Lumpur, both the bride and groom held separate ceremonies in different rooms.
As a major part of Ghari Pooja, the mothers of both bride & groom dress up beautifully, carry a pot of water on their heads and walk around the house(in our case, the ballroom). The groom clothes are also torned off by his friends and family amidst merriment illustrating the end of his old life!
Here are some captures for day 2 of the wedding, do enjoy the lengthy post :-
